In case of a missed school day, you are expected to keep up with this reading schedule.
A one page journal reflection is to be done for each night’s reading.
Journal Reflection Expectations
Your one-page reflection should be centered on the philosophical concept presented in the reading. It should demonstrate your thinking about the concept and should contain specifics from the text that demonstrate you were able to pick out the most important ideas.
Other Projects
There will also be other projects & papers throughout the quarter.
Honors Extension or Extra Credit:
If you are taking the course for College Prep credit, you MAY do the following assignment for extra credit. If you are taking the course for Honors credit, you MUST do the following assignments.
1. In regards to Sophie’s World, write a 3-4 page typed, double spaced essay responding to the following prompt:
How does the end of the novel, and the resolution of the mystery, reflect the philosophical ideas presented in the novel? Be sure to use specific evidence from the novel to support your ideas.
2. There will also be additional expectations for each project and an additional project.
Grading:
In-class work and homework: 50%
Projects/papers/tests: 50%
